"Every good vacation changes your perspective of the world"-my dad

Although we had a ton of fun on our trip, it was really perplexing. To go from the wealth, waste and gluttony of a cruise ship, to the filth and poverty of third world conditions was hard to swallow. I feel like I need to find ways to do more for others. I started researching when I got home and one thing I found was Kiva. Check it out. If you have even $25 to invest you can help little ma and pa operations around the world!

We had a great time on our first cruise, the honeymoon we never got! You can tell by the one and only jacket I took and am wearing in every shot that it was a little chilly but we managed to see the sun a little each day. I tried my hardest to be adventurous on this trip and I did a lot of firsts...
-snorkeling- loved and hated it all at the same time!
-zip-lined through the jungle-funniest moment when we rode together as a couple and instead of stopping us at the end, Jeff was posing for the picture (That picture is coming).
-Visited Belize and Honduras
-Was away from my kiddies way too long
-Eating strange foods, including cactus tacos, and escargot
-Visiting Mayan Ruins
-Seeing monkeys and crocodiles in the wild (as well as dolphins, and manatees)
-Made no phone calls for an entire week!

Perspective...

I haven't felt like posting anything crafty lately. Who cares about crafts when you are following this story. It's amazing how life can change in a instant. Nothing has happened to me except a complete change in perspective. I found this blog the day after it happened and have been reading everyday, feeling scared, amazed and in awe of this family. What a tragic mistake, yet a wonderful gift. Was this an accident, or a blessing? I think both. Coming so close to losing their baby, they showed such grace and faith in a higher healing power. Their belief in a loving Heavenly Father who hears and answers prayers is now undeniable. I think their lives will be forever changed from this event. They will hold their kids tighter, give thanks for their blessings, remember the love and support they received and know that God is a God of miracles. He will give life and take it away as He sees fit and in His time. He is in charge and knows what's best for us. We will leave this earth when it's our time, not a minute sooner. That little boy must have more to do here. This family and little boy will forever be able to testify of God's grace and miracles.

The beauty of it is that all of us who got to follow along can vicariously change our perspective on life too. Definitely a blessing.

I'm headed off for a warm sunny getaway for the next week. I'm anxious to leave my babies but I'm sure it will be great once I'm gone (that's what everyone keeps telling me), and I know they are in good hands.

Kids are so Honest

A sixth grader at my kids' school made this to display in the halls. If you can't read their dream for their country, it says, "I want a new President." Do you think their parents are Republican?

Great Day!

I can't even believe it, but I haven't been skiing for 10 years! Crazy! The last time I went was when I was pregnant with my first. I thought it would be hard but it's like riding a bike, you just pick back up. Now that my kids are getting older, hopefully I will get to go lots more. I live 15 minutes from a great resort (Sundance) so I have no excuses! Thanks for showing me the ropes Cori!

CPSIA Update

So the one year stay on the new lead laws has turned into a 2 year stay. Nothing will officially go into effect until Feb 2011. Good source of info here.
